This website is a personal, non-commercial site. It does not use cookies, it does not ask you to log in, and it does not run advertising or cross-site tracking.

Analytics
To get a rough idea of how many people read these pages, the site loads Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service. For each page view Umami records:
- the page you visited and the referring site, if any;
- your approximate country, derived from your IP address;
- your browser, operating system, device type and screen size.
Your IP address is never stored. It is used, together with your browser’s user agent, to derive your approximate country and to compute a short-lived identifier that distinguishes one visit from another. That identifier is a hash salted with a value that rotates daily, so it cannot be linked back to you or followed across days or across other websites. No cookies or similar identifiers are placed on your device, and no data is collected that would let me identify you personally. The resulting statistics are aggregated and visible only to me.
Legal basis (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): my legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how this site is used. Given that the data is pseudonymous, cookieless, not used for profiling or advertising, and never combined with other sources, I consider the impact on your privacy minimal.
Retention: analytics data is stored for 6 months, after which Umami Cloud deletes it. I do not keep a separate copy: it exists only inside my Umami Cloud account, it is never exported or archived anywhere else, and it is erased sooner if I remove this website from the account or close the account.
Automated decision-making: none. The data is not used to profile you or to take any decision concerning you.
Who processes the data
- Umami Cloud acts as data processor for the analytics, under a data processing agreement. My account uses the European Union region, so the analytics data is stored on servers in the EU. Umami Software, Inc. is based in the United States and may access the data from outside the European Economic Area for support and maintenance; such transfers are covered by the safeguards set out in its data processing agreement, in accordance with Chapter V GDPR. - Cloudflare serves the analytics endpoint as a content delivery network, and therefore processes the connection data (including your IP address) in transit.
- GitHub Pages serves this site as static files. GitHub, a company of the Microsoft group based in the United States, may collect connection data, including IP addresses, for security and operational purposes; see the GitHub Privacy Statement. Serving the site necessarily involves this transfer.
No data is sold, shared for advertising, or disclosed to anyone else.
Opting out
The analytics script honours the browser’s Do Not Track setting: if you have it enabled, no data is sent. Any content blocker (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, Brave Shields and similar) will also stop the script from loading.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it rectified or erased, to obtain restriction of processing, to data portability, and — since the processing relies on legitimate interest — to object to the processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR. Objecting takes effect immediately through any of the opt-out methods above.
Please note that the analytics data is pseudonymous: I hold no information that would let me connect it to you. As provided by Art. 11(2) GDPR, I may therefore be unable to act on a request for access, rectification or erasure unless you supply additional information that makes identification possible.

If you believe your data has been processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. In Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
